Human Relief Foundation
Four intrepid Tower Hamlets explorers have completed the challenge of a lifetime, raising money for Human Relief Foundation’s global refugee projects in Bangladesh, Lebanon and Jordan.
The four day “Walk 4 Hope” is a 100km hike that took place across the world's longest natural beach, situated on the Cox's Bazar coastline of Bangladesh, between 28 - 31 October 2024. The team trekked over 100km over four days, including visits to several Human Relief Foundation refugee rebuilding projects in the country. The choice of route is no coincidence - Cox's Bazar being home to close to one million Rohingya refugees, who have fled persecution in neighbouring Myanmar.
The team is made up of Human Relief Foundation fundraiser Foisol Uddin, accompanied by Anam Hoque, Hussain Ahmed and Abdal Ahmed.
The team have already raised over £40,000 to provide essential support for Rohingya refugee children situated in refugee camps at Cox's Bazaar, and Palestinian & Syrian children who are rebuilding their lives in camps in Lebanon and Jordan. The essential support includes food, medical assistance and education - all building blocks to provide brighter and more sustainable futures.
After completing four days of walking, the team was met with a tremendous reception from well-wishers, HRF Bangladesh staff and local media at their final destination of Cox’s Bazar.
Said HRF London Fundraising Manager, Khoyrul Shaheed: “We are humbled by the dedication, commitment and efforts of the 'Walk 4 Hope' team, knowing that every step they have taken will directly support refugees in Bangladesh, Lebanon, and Jordan. Walking along Cox’s Bazar, where so many Rohingya families have sought refuge, is a powerful reminder of the resilience of these communities. The money raised by the team will provide life-changing support to refugee children, offering them food, medical aid, and education. We are determined to make a difference and grateful for everyone’s support in helping us reach this target.”
